Extractor
Extractor is a data extraction tool that allows users to download data into a selected format such as Presenter, Excel, Crystal Reports, Output to a file in .csv format or output to .pdf format. Extractor is used directly through
Extracts can be run interactively or in the background, immediately or scheduled to run later. Controls within Extractor prevent the interactive running of jobs that will degrade system performance.
When the Extract is complete the resulting files may be compressed before downloading to the PC.
Users can also access Extracts and Advanced Reports from their Favourites window. This means that reports can be run without having access to Extractor itself. Security Settings are used to control this function.
Sub reports are also available and provide a means of displaying the same data in different ways within the same report, as well as the ability to use a single report to link related dates. Sub reports are available only when data is accessed through Crystal Reports.
Example You may want to create a report that displays information on employee Leave Entitlements. The heading of the document would contain total Entitlement and Pro Rata for each State, and the body of the report could break this down by Department. You would use a sub-report to represent the summary data at the top, and the main report could show the breakdown. Another example involves linking related but separate data sources. To write a report which displays both employee Leave History and current Leave Entitlements, you would have to use a sub-report to represent one data source, while leaving the main report to format the other data source. |
Extractor Security
The security within Extractor is based on your Security Profile Access, and will only produce records that a user would normally have access to. It is also not possible to change or delete data.
A user logged in will have automatic access to Extractor provided it has been granted by their System Administrator.
