Competency Matching
This option defines the competencies to be used as a basis to search for applicants or employees most qualified to fill a vacant position. This option also displays or reports on a candidate's competencies.

Rules and Guidelines
- The matching process applies an Essential Test and up to three (3) Optional Tests against each candidate.
- After the search criteria has been set and the search submitted, the following tests are performed:-
- Essential Test
If the selected competency has the Essential Field set to Yes, then the candidate must have that competency or they are rejected from the selection. - Optional Tests
Competency - This test determines whether the candidate has the competency.
Proficiency - If the candidate's proficiency is less than the required proficiency, the candidate is rejected.
This test is not performed if the required proficiency is blank or if the competency is a Level 1 competency. - In Use - If the In Use field on the required scenario is set to Y, and the candidate'sIn Use field is set to N, then the candidate fails.
This test is not performed if the In Use field on the scenario is blank or No.

Select Start Wizard.
Field Information
When setting the selection criteria, this is based on those setup for a position, and can be changed as required.
Select the Position number to base a selection criteria.
To display existing competencies linked to this position number, click on the Select a Position and click here to add Position Competencies to Scenario or Clear Scenario button. Any competencies already linked to this position are displayed and can be maintained as required.
- If a competency is not required, select and delete it from the Scenario.
- The Clear Scenario button is used to clear any competencies from the scenario.
Select the Competency Code to be included in this scenario.
If this is a Level 2 or Level 3 code enter the code for the proficiency level required for this search.
Specify if this Competency will be essential to this search or not.
Specify if the candidate is required to be currently using this competency or not.
The selection of candidates can be restricted.
Type | Description |
---|---|
External | Restrict the choices to External candidates only. |
Internal | Restrict the choices to Internal candidates only. |
An Org Unit is selected only if Internal was selected in the "Candidate Type" field. This restricts the search to a specific organisation unit.
- If this field is left blank, all organisation units are included in the search.
The Matching % figure specifies the percentage of non-essential competencies that a candidate must posses before they can be considered in the selection process.
- This can only be used if non-essential competencies have been entered.
Select Next >> to move to the View Results window.
This window displays all successful candidates listing those with the highest Percentage Match first.
- To view the competency details of a candidate, drill down on the selected candidate.
Select Finish or select <<Back to return to the Scenario Entry window.
