Employee Development

When an employee has a performance review, agreements are reached about the steps that will be taken to assist the employee to achieve their stated goals.

A number of processes are designed to assist with documenting an employee's goals and automating the process of tracking the development of an employee's skills as they progress through training courses and gain experience.

The following involves functions within the Personnel, HR Planning and training modules:

  • Details of a qualification that an employee would like to attain. These details are recorded in the employee's Formal Education window.
  • An employee's Possible Future Role within a company
  • Potential Successors to an employee
  • Factors that may potentially derail the employee from achieving their goals.
  • Development Plans for an employee - to document how it is intended that they achieve their goals. These development plans may be automatically updated.
  • Within the HR Planning window, there is an option to process the nominations entered for training courses as part of the development plan. These plans are automatically passed to the Training module.
  • Mentoring Details for an employee, both in receiving mentoring and in mentoring another employee. A full history of the mentoring of employees is maintained.

Setup

To setup Employee Development the following must be in place:-

  • Cost Categories , if planning on tracking the cost incurred for Training and Qualification purposes.
  • Development Solutions records the types of methods that may be used to assist an employee in gaining their full potential. These are typically methods such as attending a course or receiving mentoring from another staff member.
  • Time Frames are used to maintain details of the time frame that an employee is expected to succeed to another employee's position within the Company.
  • Derailer Codes records details of the factors that may potentially derail an employee from achieving their stated goals. This could be an employee's inability to accept criticism.
  • Institution Codes needed to record the institutions where training will take place.
  • Within the Training module Module Codes are setup for the different courses which are to be used. Training modules can be Core modules which are Compulsory, or Elective modules that can be added at the employee's choice. These Modules are then attached to a Training Qualification.
